BOYS sentences

In class we have been learning to use BOYS sentences to help improve our writing. What we had to do was use the connectives BUT, OR, YET and SO to help extend our sentences. We also had to make sure that we included a comma before the connective to allow us to take a very little pause. Here are some of our examples below.

The beach trip

One day I was going to the beach, or I was going to the swimming pool, but my choice was going to the beach. I went to the bus stop but the bus was coming, yet I forgot my bus pass. I went to get an ice-cream and my choice was to get strawberry, or chocolate.

We were swimming in the sea, but we never ate our ice-cream, so we sat down and ate our ice-cream. After we ate the ice-cream we went for a swim, but the sea was coming in, so we went to build a sandcastle.

The Beach

One day I went to the beach as it was a sunny day, but the water was cold. Me and my brother went to the ice-cream van and we had a choice of vanilla, or chocolate chip. My mum said we have got an hour left, so we went in the water. We then made sandcastles, but my brother ruined my one. We had ten minutes left, so yet again we went in the water and it was time to go, yet we had had a good time at the beach.

The Beach Trip

It was a very hot day in Edinburgh, so me and my cousins were going to the beach. We got hungry on the way, so we went in to the ice-cream shack. We had a choice of vanilla, or mint, we picked vanilla. We were at the beach, but I forgot my swim suit, so we made sandcastles. After half an hour we had to ho home, yet we never wanted to.

The Beach Trip

 

         It was a sunny day on a Sunday. Everyone decided to go to the beach, or go to the park. Sophie said lets go to the beach first, but it started to spit a bit. So all of them just started to get all their buckets and spades ready. They were going to Portobello beach. Mum was in a good mood, yet she had to shout to everyone to hurry up. When they got to the car mum got reakky angry because everyone was just taking their time. At the beach the sand was warm. Sophie ran to the water but it was cold, so she went to make sandcastles.

        They were going to do a competition of who can build the best castle. Sam, Sophie and Zak worked together and Ellie, Cara and Christina worked together. Nadine was watching because she has a sore foot. Cara, Ellie and Christina won a bug trophy at the end.

         After that they had ice-cream, but it was really cold. They had a choice of chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, strawberry and raspberry sorbet. Everyone chose mint choc chip. It was yummy!

THE BEACH

It was a very sunny day, so my family and I went to Portobello beach for a walk and a play in the water. It was a perfect day for a swim, but we could also go on a walk around the beach. We chose to swim in the water just for fun. We got soaking wet, yet we still wanted to play in the water. Now we could play with my dog, or we could make the dog chase us. It was a fun day at the beach and I wish to go again.

The Beach

It was a sunny day, so I decided to go to the beautiful beach of Cramond. I set off and I went on the bus, yet it took so long and a baby was just crying. I was at the brach, but it started raining, so I went to the amusements. I was getting bored, so I decided to go home and surprise surprise when I got home the sun came out. Mum said I could go to the park, or the car boot sale.

The beach trip

 

It was a sunny day. Mum decided we could go to the beach, or go swimming, but we couldn't because we had to be in time for dinner, so mum said we could go to the beach after dinner time. I looked out the window, yet it started to rain. I waited and waited until it stopped. I asked mum if we could go to the beach. We got on the bus, so when I got to the beach I went in the water. It was very cold. After the beack we got an ince-cream and I got chocolate and it was delicious.
