Skiing - lesson 4

Wow! We are making super progress. All using the tow today and one group are racing up the hill. Stick in there and you may get to the top :) 

A lot less falling over today and all definitely getting the hang of it. All smiles today and no moans and groans.

Emotion Talks

DEALING WITH ANGER POSITIVIELY

We have been using a resource in class called Emotion Talks, looking at our emotions, triggers, their intensity, the sensations different emotions cause and how to regulate our emotions.

This week we have been making posters on how to regulate our anger so that it doesn't get out of control. We had to choose 4 or more different techniques to include in our posters. Here are some below:

Skiing - lesson 3

Third lesson complete on a lovely day up on the Pentland Hills. One group managed to move to the other slope and began to practice on the tow. They did well and enjoyed themselves. 

The other group continued to master their snow plough and are now ready to practice using the tow next week and progressing up the slope. 

All progressing well and enjoying themselves.

Skiing - lesson 2

Second skiing lesson completed and we've now practised jumping and our snow plough. We also had to go down hill doing head, shoulders, knees and toes. 

Few of us fell over today and a bit more tired than last week as a group had been to cross country this morning.

All in all it was a good lesson with the majority of spirits still high. 

Our adverts

We have been creating adverts using iMovie.

In pairs or trios we chose a game that we enjoy playing in class when we get some free time and created an advert to sell it as a great game to play.

We thought about persuasive language that we could use and then took pictures of the game as well as videos of it being played.

We then thought about what audio we would add, any sound effects and background music.

Skiing - lesson 1

Today P6 headed to Hillend for their first ski lesson. After learning how to put on the boots and attach their boots to their skis the class headed out to begin learning the basics. 

A few falls but all in all the class managed really well and made good progress on day one. 

Everyone seemed positive afterwards and not too sore so are ready for lesson 2 next week.

Animation Workshops

This term we are working with Mark Carr and Helen from Craigmillar Arts and Environment Project to create animated movies.

We worked together in groups of 4 to design a story board and then created characters, backdrops and scripts. Now we are in the process of filming with Mark and Helen and so far two groups have completed their filming.
